Update on the Last few months in Photos

It's been a few months since my last post. I know I'm a bad blogger! Life has been crazy around our house lately. First my husband's real father passed away in July then at the end of August we lost our beloved Rocco. For all of you that don't personally know me; Rocco was our great dane and the first dog we have had together as a family. But now onto what I've been working on while all this craziness has been going on. Amber has gotten a few dresses over the past few months. This one I used the Picnic Dress pattern from Monkeys Bug They have a lot of great patterns and the instructions are easy to follow.
This one I used Moda's Vintage Modern collection. Then I made another one with an Amy Butler print.
This photo doesn't quite capture the dress very well, but she's still cute! I've also made a few pillow shams. The small one is my first dresden attempt.
Then I just got crazy with some scraps I had lying around. Bam's crayon collection has been out of hand lately. So I ended up making her a crayon roll out of some left over fabric and ribbon. I don't remember who's tutorial I used for this one, but if you just Google "crayon roll tutorial" you'll find tons. I'm thinking that my little nephews will be getting these for Christmas this year. Bring on the boy fabric!
I don't remember if I posted a picture of the cosmetic bag I made using The Fat Quarter Gangs tutorial. But here it is. I used 3 coordinating Art Gallery prints for this one and my ruffle is upside down on one side, but it gives it character!
A while back my business partner finally got a new laptop that she can't crash. (Thank you Apple for creating the mac book!) So I decided she needed a bag that is as stylish as she is. So I found this tutorial from Mother Huddle. I used two coordinating Ombre prints for this one along with some Kona solid. Plus I altered the pattern a bit by adding a small strap with some velcro for closure.
I am just finishing up a log cabin throw quilt this week. So pictures will be coming soon!

Cosmetic Pouch TIme

I have been wanting to make a cosmetic pouch and Art Gallery Fabrics has the perfect tutorial on their website by Lee at Freshly Pieced. which can be found near the middle of their page. Going to start cutting up a few Loulou Tai prints tonight and hopefully finish a few pouches over the weekend. Can't wait I can start in 5 more hours!

How time flys

It's been almost a month since my last post. Here's a list of all the projects I've finished so far in June: -Bam's Picnic Dress (picture coming soon) I used a pattern from Monkeysbug. Click the Link: She has a lot of great patterns. I used Moda's Vintage Modern collection for this one. -Bam's Pillow Sham - designed by me! Didn't use a pattern or tutorial for this one. Just went for it on a whim! But it does match her plus quilt nicely. -Bam's drawstring backpack - I did find the instructions in a quilt magazine from 2008(way before Bam was born). I used a little left over Tula Pink fabric on the outside pocket and some left over Amy Butler fabric on the inside. I think this is one of my favorite projects so far. More to come soon, the weekend is just around the corner!

Bam's Plus Quilt finished

Finally finished Bam's new plus quilt a week ago. I was so excited, it was the best birthday ever for me! I got to sew all weekend long! I even pieced the back, first time ever for me. I usually just do a solid backing but for some reason I got a little creative with this one. Yesterday my little Bam stayed home sick and bundled up on the couch for movie day. The poor teddy bear got most of her snotty nose, she refuses to wipe it on her new quilt! Smart girl :)

The Plus Continues

Finally! last night I actually got to work on Bam's plus quilt. Well not too much I got to finish 3 rows, only 11 to go! With this type of quilt you need to make sure that you follow the seam allowance (1/4") perfectly otherwise things don't match up too well. So far so good, usually I have to rip a couple seams out; but I haven't touched that little seam ripped once yet. Notice I say "yet", we're only 3 rows in people! While I got the chance to sew last night, Bam got to watch her shows in Mommy and Daddy's bed with all her animals and blankies. I was glad she was relaxed, usually as soon as she hears the sewing machine she's in the kitchen asking if her blanket is done yet.

Been Looking...

I have been looking for a  pattern using triangles for a while now. Something to use up a bunch of scraps with. A BIG thank you to a fellow quilt blogger In Color Order (Jeni) for posting this quilt she's working on. I love this girls blog! The pattern she followed for her prism quilt can be found at Janome + Anna Maria's blog. First take a look at Jeni's blog, she has posted a picture of her layout. It's gorgeous!

Plus Quilt

I just started Bam's Plus Quilt last weekend. By started I mean cut it all out and laid it out. I'm hoping that I'll have some time before this weekend to sew it together. I am using a tutorial for this quilt which can be found at Jeni's Plus Quilt Tutorial I hope mine turns out as nice as hers is. Here's my layout so far. Jeni's tutorial is for 19 x 16 rows but for some reason mines only 14 x 16 rows. Oh well it's for a 3 year old and she can't count that high yet! As soon as the top is done I'll post more pictures.
